Improper noticing and filing of lien forms can cost your business thousands of hard-earned dollars! This newly developed workshop will ensure that you (and your staff) really understand the forms and procedures of properly noticing and filing Lien Law related forms. Using practical construction project scenarios, contractor documents and work schedules, we will follow the process of proper notice and filing requirements using the currently required Lien Law forms. We will focus on timeliness and accurate payment calculation to help ensure proper payment defense for today's practicing contractor. Florida's Lien Law protects ALL of us -- contractors, subcontractors and suppliers -- although it is not practiced as routinely as it should be. Many who think they undertand the procedures and requirements of the Lien Law simply do not! This hands-on workshop will clear up any misunderstandings you may have about the purpose, intent and proper use of how this Florida Statute affects our industry. No contractor should run their business without understanding the requirements and protections under Florida Statute, Chapter 713. Topics covered include: review of the notices, manners in which they are served, waivers and common remedies in cases of fraud or collusion. Hands-on exercises include completion of notices, lien releases, lien filings, sworn statements and calculation of time requirements. Of course, the topics of workplace safety and workers compensation will also be covered.
