Instructors
Robert J. Koning – Director / Instructor / Student Support
Currently a serving member of the ASTM committee and founder of Stucco Institute, Bob is actively licensed in many certified contractor categories – construction & electrical, and is a certified building official with all standard inspector, plans examiner and code analyst certifications. With more than 50 years experience, he has a credentialed and genuine working knowledge of all aspects of construction, inspection & contracting trades. In addition to his work as a leading forensic construction expert, Bob teaches and develops all categories of our construction & electrical exam prep & continuing education programs and watches closely the legislative process to ensure our voice is present in the regulation of our industry
Jeffery Hyde – Instructor / Course Development / Student Support
Jeff is well-known for his attention to structural design, code knowledge and technical detail. He is a true craftsman with more than 20 years of industry related experience, knowledge and skill, with the natural ability and genuine commitment to teaching and communicating with other industry professionals. Mike Plummer – A/C, Mechanical Instructor / Student Support
Mike is a practicing certified air conditioning contractor and class 1 energy rater. Mike stays very active in the industry and has experience with PTEC Vocational School with the RACCA Apprenticeship program, NATE, and BPI. Email: mikep@contractorsinstitute.com
Richard Elzey – Instructor / Student Support
Richard teaches both examination preparation and continuing education and serves as our Lead instructor. He is in charge of the EPA offerings, conducts the Georgia continuing education offerings, and teaches pool, underground, and GBR as well as business & finance and many of our continuing education offerings. Administrative Staff
Rhonda Koning – Director / Manager / Student Support
As a certified building and roofing contractor with an educational background in business, Rhonda has the field knowledge and education that gives her the edge in understanding the practical business needs of the industry. Her key role is that of managing director for the school, library and business services and she instructs classroom and internet courses. Rhonda works hard to ensure that the Contractors Institute maintains its position as the leading provider of industry related business and educational services. Eric Elzey – IT Systems Administrator
Eric serves as our point person for IT problems and solutions. He also is teaches our technology offerings, i.e. our Drone Pilot License exam prep course, which he developed. Email: eric@contractorsinstitute.com
Zada Roy – Online Course and Bookstore Manager
As bookstore manager , Zada is the key person to contact for locating hard-to-find industry publications, or to solve any problems with orders. In addition, she is the liaison that works with the state when classes are reported, and coordinates online CE offerings. She has over 15 years of experience working with our students. Debbie Renner- Koning Consulting Admin
Debbie assists with coordinating R.J. Koning schedule and works with Mr. Koning’s inspectors. She also assists the school’s staff as needed with student support.
Tina Gignac – Online Support Specialist
Tina is the bookkeeper and manages our flow of money. She has been with the Institute for many years in different capacities. She now also heads up the Contractor Business Services to help contractors with their business and licensing needs!
Debra McCarty – Receptionist/Student Support
Debra is the our front desk person with a smiling face when you come in to the bookstore/office and assist students with information, quotes, book selection, etc.
Colleen Cox – Student Support
Colleen is our in-house “cook” and will meet and greet you in the mornings when you come to class in Hudson! She also assists students with information, quotes, book selection, etc. and helps with ordering books and supplies.
Kassi Stastny – Shipping Manager/Student & Instructor Support
Kassi is our shipping manager so if you order something to be shipped, she will be the person to pull, pack and ship it! She also assists with student support, as well as assisting the instructors with book question changes.
